May 25, 2007: Day 36
Today I had to get a painting ready for shipping, and I could not fit the box in the car in order to bring it to my packer. Several months ago I ordered specially made boxes of various sizes for shipping art in order to help keep costs down. When the packer has to modify a box for me, it is usually wider than necessary. With gas price increases, shipping costs have gone up, and with my large paintings, are based on the size of the box rather than the weight. In addition, there is a maximum size that DHL Express will take, so getting the box size right is very important.
In any case, Adrian and I had to take the back seats out of our Honda Element in order to get the box in. This is the main reason we bought this car--because of its flexibility to carry paintings and boxes. We will also use it to transport the paintings for my Nyack show next week.
After we finally got the car packed, Adrian drove it to the packer and I started work on my drawing. Today felt like a black and gray day. My head seems stuffed with cotton, my eyelids heavy. I don't seem to have accomplished much this week.
Adrian unpacked my new stretchers for me a few days ago, and they are still sitting there waiting for me to put them together. It is eleven o'clock already, and later I have to pick up the grandkids. If it doesn't rain, we'll put up the badminton set I just bought. I haven't played since I was a teenager.
(Note: There is a gap between the dates I'm writing and posting because I had to give myself time to get ahead in case we travel and I'm not able to post.)
