August 4, 2007 Day 107
Yesterday afternoon I managed to pick up Mike and take him to swim lessons. It was the last day, and he got a glowing report card. When we got back, he went for a bike ride with Adrian, and then fixed a flashlight that Adrian was having trouble with. What is it that makes us want to see our kids and grandkids excel at everything? Passing on the genes, I guess, and fulfilling our own unfulfilled dreams.
In this morning's drawing, I used the Pitt brush pens to make a background of graduated colors in the tans and orange-brown family. The Faber Castell calligraphy pens allowed stronger accent lines and some vivid highlights. I used the brush pens again for filling in some areas, building up the composition around the initial grid.
I'm experimenting with a new canvas, using some of what I learned in Culmination and some from Sleight of Mind Three.
(Note: There is a gap between the dates I'm writing and posting because I had to give myself time to get ahead in case we travel and I'm not able to post.)
