A Year of Making Art, Day 276: Pushing the Boundaries
January 20, 2008 Day 276
In this morning's drawing, I used calligraphy pens from blues to purple, and a fine point black pen:
After that, I tackled Canvas #32. I chose to make some thick lines right from the tube with a cobalt blue, knowing perversely that this color would not work with what was there. I was in a strange mood, and wanted to push the boundaries. I didn't care what happened.
My next task, of course, was trying to get the cobalt blue to work. I used a mustard-yellow wash, a thick green-black, and a pale blue wash to try to bring everything together. My final step was to draw with black lines.
Yesterday Blixy and the kids and I went for a great walk even though it was cold and snowing through most of it. This afternoon I'm going to take Laura on the same path. It's even colder today, but some blue sky is showing through the clouds.
(Note: There is a gap between the dates I'm writing and posting in order to give me time to get ahead.)
