A Year of Making Art, Day 278: Oops!

January 22, 2008 Day 278

My drawing today was coming along fine until I made some lines with a fine point black pen that just didn't fit. At that point, I had to use more thick lines in blues and black to refocus the eye away from that spot. What I ended up with is messier, but at least alive:

Next I worked on canvas #32, first using a pale blue wash and then burnt sienna straight from the tube. I think it's better now, but I'll take a look again tomorrow. Here are the steps so far:

At our art marketing meeting last night, Stan Bowman showed us how to use Apple's movie-maker to put together a video. He took a video of me talking about one of my paintings to use as a demo. I was a little self-conscious talking about my art in a room full of artists, but no one challenged me. Even when I said about one painting: "It's finished, and if you have any ideas about how it can be improved, keep them to yourself because I like it just the way it is."

(Note: There is a gap between the dates I'm writing and posting in order to give me time to get ahead.)
