A violin is a beautiful piece of abstract art to begin with, so painting my own version of abstract art on it feels in some ways like a transgression. Yet, this particular violin was chosen for this project because it is unplayable. Rather than becoming a recyclable, it is being turned into art. And by being raffled off with other painted violins, it will further the cause of beauty in the music played by our Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, all in all, a worthy cause.
Painting the back of the violin was actually easier than painting the front, but here is what I have so far:
